Paul Hoffman advises closely held family businesses in the alcoholic beverages and consumer luxury markets on financial strategies, scenario planning, resource optimization, and capital restructuring.
His energies are directed at improving business performance through strategic planning, higher quality information, staff mentoring, and the development of more effective systems, leading to an enhancement of the business owners’ strategic view of his/her business.
Paul began his career with the San Francisco offices of Laventhol & Horwath, and later Moss Adams, concentrating primarily in audit and tax of the apparel and real estate industries. He relocated to the Napa/Sonoma wine country over 25 years ago, working in senior financial management positions for high growth companies including Rutherford Hill, The Hess Collection, and Jackson Family Wines. Paul has also been principal of The Hoffman Group for over 15 years – a wine industry focused advisory team, providing CFO level financial services to over 80 wineries.
Paul is a Santa Clara University graduate with a BSC in accounting. He is a certified public accountant, and holds a Chartered Global Management Accountant designation, and is a member of the AICPA and CalCPA Society. Paul has written and currently teaches one of the core classes for the Sonoma State University Wine Business Certification Program. He resides in Napa with his wife, Michelle, and is working on helping the last of his three children get through college debt free. Paul enjoys single malt scotch, road bicycle riding, and is the keyboardist for several North Bay bands and visiting performing artists.
